“Creating a Culture of Inclusion” at St. Paul’s School, November 2021

Beyond the jargon and buzzwords, what does it mean to build a workplace culture where our differences are celebrated, discussion is welcomed, and change is recognized as a necessary part of growth? What are small tasks that, when done collectively, can create a wave of change?

Shane’s work creates change through connection by meeting people where they are.

Maybe it's your first conversation about gender and identity. Maybe you’re looking to challenge systems of oppression that have kept LGBTQ+ people and those with intersectional identities on the margins.

Shane centers his experiences as a trans man to deliver trainings infused with humor, humility, and honesty to build trust and create dialogue. Shane’s accessible approach brings relatable content, real-life examples, and tangible action steps in support of your workplace needs and goals. Participants leave Shane’s presentations eager to continue the conversation, share what they’ve learned, and implement it into their daily lives.

Shane helps you identify solutions to your workplace’s unique needs and challenges:

  • Create a safer and more inclusive office culture for your employees and help recruit new employees;

  • Change your outward-facing image to reflect your culture of inclusion;

  • Bring issues and ideas to your larger organization or business;

  • Proactively create or overhaul transgender-inclusive policies;

  • Anything you can dream of related to transgender inclusion, supporting trans youth, and empowering communities to create safer and more affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ people.

Shane’s workshops challenge implicit biases about sexual orientation and gender identity, including how and where we learned to perform our genders. He provides suggestions to change internal and external-facing culture and policies, and allows space for questions from participants who are willing to confront the status quo.

Additionally, Shane has consulted with businesses to update their employee and corporate handbooks including policy recommendations and customized DEI training programs to earn recognition on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index. To date, all of Shane’s clients have scored 100 on the CEI and he is available to consult for the 2023 application process.
